OnePlanets Founder:

Michael Kraus was born in Munich, Germany in 1966 as the grandson of a master baker, and immigrated to Canada in 1992. His passion for cooking and knowledge of food started at a very early age in the vegetable garden and the kitchen of his grandmother. In 1988, he completed a five year apprenticeship at two of the most respected establishments in Germany as pastry chef and chef; he continued his studies in front of house service as well as management.

In 2002, he founded “Viva Fine Foods & Bakery” in Kitsilano and quickly established a reputation for quality and creativity. His catering services included events for more than 3000 people as well as office lunches, weddings, company events and private chef services. He sold his company after 6 successful years in 2008.

With a people-oriented management style and strong communication skills, Michael Kraus has created positive work environments and has been an inspiring and motivating leader to the teams that he has led. He has proven his skills throughout 25 years of hospitality experience ranging from fine dining to high volume and multi- location environments, and has set standards and implemented systems for various establishments.
